Dementia Awareness Month

Dementia Awareness Month

September is Dementia Awareness Month and Monday, 20 September is World Alzheimer’s Day. This year’s theme from Alzheimer’s International, Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s, focuses on diagnosis, the warning signs of dementia and the continued effect of COVID-19 on the global dementia community.

In 2022, the campaign will have a special focus on post-diagnostic support. Following recent developments and potential breakthroughs, in both dementia treatment and support, the campaign will aim to highlight the importance of support for people living with dementia and families following a diagnosis.

Dementia is second leading cause of death of Australians and the leading cause of death among Australian females. There are many ways you can become involved in Dementia Awareness Month to show your support.

Don’t face dementia alone.
