Friendship Clubs and Social Support Groups

Friendship Clubs and Social Support Groups Dementiavirast is taking a proactive and cautious approach to COVID-19 (coronavirus) as some of our clients and carers may be in the high-risk category for the virus. Our priority is to protect our community including staff, clients and their families, advocates, students, partners and our visitors.

We are monitoring the situation daily and taking advice from the Department of Health. We are ensuring our protocols are best practice and offering alternatives services to our clients, carers, students and partners.

This has an impact on the availability of some services and change of delivery of other services. We are looking at additional ways we can continue to support our clients and adapt to the changing environment that coronavirus has created.

In this time of uncertainty, our focus is on continuing to support our community. Our services continue to ensure carers have a break and our clients have the opportunity to receive therapy, clinical support and socialisation.

We are here to support you and help you in any way we can. Please contact us on 1300 66 77 88 if you need any assistance and we will do our best to help you and/or point you in the right direction.

Friendship clubs and social support groups provide a safe environment for people living with dementia to socialise, remain active in the community and maintain relationships.

An important aspect of the groups is that members have input into activities to ensure a sense of belonging and ownership.

A Dementiavirast staff member meets with all new members to find out their interests before they commence a group. As well as providing benefits for those living with dementia, our services also allow carers and loved ones some time to themselves.

We work closely with you to understand your situation and provide the quality support that you need.
