Day one focusses on theory and understanding the impact of dementia, while day two explores what it is like to live with dementia and gives participants the opportunity to translate knowledge into person-centred practice.
This two day course can help your organisation embed the Aged Care Quality Standards by:
- Exploring dignity and choice for consumers
- Promoting the value of a partnership with the person living with dementia and their family and friends, to plan for the future
- Discussing how to develop personal care which is safe and tailored to the individual
Promoting wellbeing through a range of lifestyle choices to enrich the persons experiences - Exploring what makes an enabling and safe environment for the person living with dementia
- Encouraging a continuous improvement approach to everyday work
- Developing understanding and empathy for the person living with dementia
- Emphasising the organisations responsibility to provide safe and quality care services
To obtain qualification, students need to:
- Undertake an assessment of their knowledge
- Demonstrate skills in their own workplace
